Women in Magento

Wondering who the women who contribute to shaping the future of E-commerce, redefining success and breaking the glass ceiling in this field are? The Mage-OS NL organisation often gathers some of them at a special event called Women in Magento. We talked to two women involved in this initiative to learn more about the reasons why this space for connectivity is so cherished.

Each year, the Mage-OS organization hosts events that connect ambitious professionals working with Magento. As a company that works with Magento, Youwe is one of the firm supporters of the organisation and their initiatives, the latest of which is a platform for women in the dynamic field of digital commerce.

Women in Magento is a regularly organised networking event consisting of a dinner and drinks, with a primary aim to empower women within the historically male-dominated field. But their mission goes beyond E-commerce. It’s about fostering an inclusive community, sharing knowledge, and inspiring each other on both a professional and personal level.

This goal of theirs is exactly what our colleague Tabitha Karta, Customer Success Manager & Global Strategic Alliance Manager from our Groningen office, resonates most with. Since February, she is also a proud board member of Mage-OS NL. When we asked her about the highlight of the Women in Magento events, she didn’t think twice: “It is always truly inspiring to meet other women and to discuss not only the technical expertise, but also challenges that women face in the day-to-day business. Normally you meet a lot of men in the E-commerce world. Therefore, it is very uplifting to see and share knowledge with other women working in this field.”

Tabitha went on to describe the international environment of the event and how they are trying to link Women in Magento to other existing worldwide events. This global orientation brings Women in Magento closer to their other goal - to spark the interest of more and more women towards E-commerce.

“We typically see that the better connected women are, the easier it is to use their network to progress in their career, gain confidence and become role models for other women. We want to increase the visibility of women in Magento by offering a platform where they can connect, learn and grow,” explained Sanne Bolkenstein, one of the organisers of Women in Magento.

Packed with inspiration and resilience, this event continues to inspire many women to discover the unlimited potential the world of E-commerce can hold for them! Their latest series of events were organized last week in honour of International Women’s Day.
